Two related but distinct inventory problems: knowing which SKUs are quietly running low before they actually stock out, and being able to verify that your recorded stock still matches physical reality without shutting the warehouse down for a full stocktake. Low-stock visibility: catching the shortage before it's a stockout

A SKU that's about to run out doesn't announce itself -- unless something is actively comparing available stock against a meaningful threshold, it looks identical to a SKU with plenty of stock right up until it hits zero. A flat "low stock" flag at an arbitrary number isn't that useful either, since a component that sells steadily needs a different reorder threshold in low season than in peak season.

A cycle count is the alternative: counting a subset of SKUs or a specific location on a rolling basis, so accuracy gets verified continuously instead of in one disruptive event.
